This gong has a complex tone consisting of a wide range of frequencies, a lack of clear fundamental pitch, and a short sustain. Also called a "wind" gong (because of its crash cymbal qualities that sound like strong wind through trees), this gong has a very stereotypical "Asian" sound to it. Although 28" may seem like a large size in the classroom or on stage, this gong is actually soft dynamically when compared to other gong styles, like its Chao cousin.
